Would YOU Board At Your Barn?

Are you thinking of adding new boarders to your riding facility? To attract the kind of clients you really want, look at your barn as if YOU were going to be the new boarder. Actually go to the end of your driveway and approach your barn as if seeing it for the first time.

An attractive exterior is the first thing people notice and often it’s what decides whether they'll check it out further. Be objective -what could use improvement? Could the barn use a new coat of paint? Would some landscaping make things look more inviting? Do you need a sign to make the farm easier to find?

Of course, the interior is what most potential boarders will be interested in so it’s important to see that with fresh eyes, too. Would replacing barn end doors or adding windows make the stalls feel more welcoming? Is there plenty of light and air in both the stalls and the aisle ways? Would your horse have the opportunity to (safely) see their neighbors or watch what's going on outside to help alleviate boredom?

As a boarder, will your horse be free from injury in his stall, i.e. are the stall fronts and partitions well made and secure, safe from protruding nails or sharp edges? Are the stalls clean and well bedded? Will your horse have plenty of water in either clean buckets or with an automatic waterer?
