Get Ahead of The Muddy Mess

One way to keep your horse happy is with regular turnout time.  But where can he go during those cold rainy/snowy months? If you turn him out in the pasture when the ground is soggy, his hooves can easily ruin your tender young grass.

You will need to create a "sacrifice area".  It can be any size, though naturally the bigger the better. However, remember that even here your horse can churn up the ground to mud and a muddy turnout can cause hoof infections, scratches, and damages to your ground. These areas are also difficult to clean as manure and mud can easily mix together. You have a couple of options. You can pour a layer of gravel or wood shavings over the ground for extra coverage. However, keep in mind that over time with all the walking, the gravel/shavings will eventually churn into mud. The end result will still be a muddy mess. Ultimately the most efficient option would be creating a mud-free turnout area using a product such as Classic Equine Equipment's Stable-ity Grid.

The Stable-ity grid system interlocks together and is installed directly on the ground with gravel poured on top. The Grid keeps gravel from shifting around while also giving your horse extra height so he is able to stay completely off the dirt and mud-free.

  • Each grid measures approximately 24” x 24” x 1”

  • Maintenance free

  • Able to withstand heavy loads

  • Will not shift or uproot

  • Eliminates filling and leveling of dirt and stone dust surfaces

  • Insures a permanently level stall

  • Provides excellent drainage

  • Helps control odors

  • Can be used in other barn areas you want to keep mud-free

Order your Stable-ity grids today, and get ahead of the muddy mess!
